Optical Interconnect Requirements Will Appear in Federal HPC and AI Data Center RFPs by Q4 2026

The OFC 2026 consensus on CPO and silicon photonics -- now reinforced by NVIDIA's production deployment and Marvell's Polariton acquisition -- will migrate into federal acquisition language within 90 days. The Army HPC recompete and any new federal AI compute solicitations should be expected to reference 800G+ optical interconnect, CPO-capable switching, and fiber-optic backbones as minimum specifications. Federal data center infrastructure vendors without CPO or silicon photonics roadmaps risk being excluded from next-generation procurement vehicles. (more)
